Blown Fuses

Fuse boxes are not anything to mess around with unless you know what you are doing. If you want to be safe, turn off the power to the fuse box before replacing the blown fuse. After replacing the fuse, you can restore power to the box and the house. The thing with fuses is that you can only use the exact amp size in the fuse slot. If you are contently blowing fuses, do not use the next size up to solve the problem. This practice can result in fire or other problems. Always use the right size fuse.

Now, if you own your home and you have a fuse box, you should consider upgrading your wiring by going to a circuit breaker box. This is a safe way to prevent any unfortunate accidents or fires because of old wiring. Homes today are changing to circuit breakers because it is now part of the home buying process. In some cases, people cannot sell their homes or buy a home unless the wiring is up to date. This means you would have to get the work done at some point anyway. Why not get the work done now and save yourself the time and money later.

It is better for anyone in the home to flip the circuit breaker than it is to turn off the power to the fuse box and replace a fuse. Circuit breaker boxes have never been reported to spark due to over loading as fuse boxes can do when you overload the fuse or use the wrong size fuse. If you are considering an upgrade from a fuse box to a circuit breaker box, you should call a licensed, experienced and insured electrician that can safely replace old wiring, install the circuit breaker box and make your home safer for you and your family.
