Phone & Cable Outlets
When you get sick of seeing unsightly extension cord, phone cords and cable cords laying around everywhere you look, you may want to consider phone and cable outlets in your home. The best thing today for unsightly telephone wires is the outlets for phones, which can be placed anywhere in your home so you no longer need that long phone cord or phone jack sticking out of the walls everywhere. The phone wires are run in the walls to an outlet plate where you simply plug the phone cord into it. If you use cordless phones, you may want an electrical outlet next to it for the power cord.
If you have cable TV, satellite TV or even the older TV antennas, you can now have wall plates to attach the cable or antenna leads to and it hides the cables in the wall, just like a phone outlet. The nice thing about this is you can install the wall plates anywhere in the home. You have to run the cables and phone lines through the walls to the appropriate wall plates. This job isn’t as easy as it sounds. You do need to have the right tools and equipment to run the lines through the walls and then hook them up correctly.
If you were to run the wires through the wall and disrupt other electrical wires, you could create more of a problem than you anticipated. It is always best to keep the cable and phone lines far away from the other electrical wiring, but in some cases, you might need to run them closer. A professional electrician can run the cables to the phone and cable outlets and make sure that everything is hooked up correctly. When done correctly, you will have full service from the phone and cable lines.
