Computer Wiring
One might wonder why you would need an electrician to do your computer wiring, but the fact is, you want to have your computer on its own outlet with some type of protection from lightening and protection if the breaker trips. When you operate a computer, you want it to be on its own outlet without anything else for safety reasons. If you have a breaker for the computer, you are assured that if any of the breakers trip from over loading, your computer will remain running because it has its own breaker. This is common in most homes that run computers.
Since you are going to have a surge protector as well, you will need a three-prong outlet in order to plug the surge protector into the outlet. Some people think they can use an adapter for a two-prong outlet and be safe. This is, however, untrue. You are only looking for trouble if you do not have the right wiring for the computer. You need to address any outlet issues before using the computer and surge protector. You should have an outlet installed for the computer as well as the wiring for the internet and phone line if you have faxing.
You will be better off if you have an experienced electrician install all of the outlets that you’ll need for your computer. And since the electrician will already be running new wiring to the outlet for electricity, why not have them run the internet and phone lines as well. You can talk to the electrician about the wires you need to run and where in the home you need them. It may be in a few different rooms depending on your needs. An experienced electrician will be able to help you with all of your computer wiring needs. The electrician will also eliminate the cords and cable lines lying around the computer areas.
